Pathologists' Assistant - Surgical Grossing Room - Remote

Overview

The Pathologists' Assistant will work independently under the supervision of the Technical Supervisor in the Surgical Pathology department, performing a variety of tasks related to processing surgical pathology specimens, providing instruction, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

• Perform gross description and dissection of surgical pathology specimens.
• Provide instruction to residents and interns on gross anatomy and pathology techniques.
• Handle post-mortem examinations and documentation.
• Assist in research and clinical studies.

• Enter patient information into the laboratory information system.
• Provide Saturday coverage as necessary.
• Participate in teaching conferences.
• Support frozen section labs with tissue handling.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree from an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant Training Program.
• PA(ASCP) certification required.
• Minimum of two years of experience preferred, especially in an academic setting.
• Strong clinical judgment and compliance with regulations.
• Ability to instruct and train others effectively.
• Experience with specimen handling and diagnostics.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
