Overview

The Medical Surgical Orthopedic Nursing Assistant works under the direction of licensed personnel, assisting patients with daily living tasks and monitoring vital signs to support patient care.

In Short

  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing and dressing.
  • Monitor and record vital signs including temperature and blood pressure.
  • Complete documentation in the medical record accurately.
  • Interact effectively with patients and their families.
  • Help patients reposition in bed and transfer between bed and wheelchair.
  • Report health concerns of patients to nursing staff.
  • Perform basic hygiene tasks and support patient comfort.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare team members.
  • Commit to continuing education and training in patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in patient care or elder care preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient in using electronic medical records.
  • Effective communication skills for patient interaction.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (LNA) preferred.
