Financial Controller - Remote

Overview

Voyant Photonics is seeking a hands-on, systems-minded Controller to be our first dedicated finance and accounting lead, responsible for establishing reliable, scalable accounting systems and serving as a key partner to company leadership.

In Short

• Manage all core accounting functions including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Oversee relationship with external accounting firm for bookkeeping and compliance.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain strong internal controls.
• Build and refine accounting processes to support operational reporting.
• Collaborate with leadership to build department-level budgets.
• Act as the go-to resource for internal financial questions.
• Prepare internal dashboards and financial summaries for decision support.
• Manage cash flow reporting and day-to-day banking activity.
• Contribute to board reporting and fundraising preparation.
• Room for growth into future Head of Finance or VP of Finance position.

Requirements

• 7+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• CPA or equivalent experience preferred.
• Strong fluency in QuickBooks and financial process implementation.
• Experience managing or collaborating with outside accounting firms.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Clear communicator who can translate financial topics across functions.
