Overview

The Medication Access Specialist is a vital member of the managed services team, working under the direction of the Visante leadership team to effectively navigate the complexities of insurance benefits. This role is focused on enhancing medication access and alleviating financial burdens for patients.

In Short

• Review medication authorizations submitted by clients.
• Identify processes for authorization submissions.
• Perform benefits investigation reviews.
• Identify patient assistance programs and financial resources.
• Assist clinics with appeals related to coverage denials.
• Communicate medication options and financial assistance to patients.
• Ensure accurate documentation in EMR systems.
• Support onboarding and training of medication access specialists.
• Collaborate with team members to improve operations.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of pharmacy experience in healthcare.
• Prior consulting and/or client-facing experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic medical record documentation preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding is highly desired.
• Understanding of health insurance and pharmacy insurance benefits.
• State Board of Pharmacy Technician registration required within 6 months of hire.
• Active CPhT certification preferred.
• Strong analytical and creative skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
