Spanish Language Health Content and Translation Specialist - Remote

Overview

You will work as a fully bilingual (English-Spanish) web-savvy Digital Translator on an established federal contract. Under the guidance of a product owner and content strategist, this position will work collaboratively with copywriters, graphic designers, UX strategists, and others to support a large government website.

The content requiring translating includes health topics and medical terminology. Familiarity with medical and health related terms is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate is fully bilingual in English and Spanish with strong writing and editing skills in both languages. You should be proactive; capable of prioritizing tasks across multiple needs with a strong understanding of best practices of digital translation and strategy in multicultural communications, writing for the web, and user research. An understanding of content management, systems a plus. This position has the opportunity to grow into a bilingual copywriter or content producer as a W9 employee.

This is a 3-month contract, 36-40 hours/week as a 1099 employee.

You must be a US citizen.

• Translate clear, concise, grammatically correct copy from English into Spanish.

• Support coordination with Spanish-language programs elsewhere at NIH.
• Contribute to daily social media activities, including Spanish posts.
• Translate content for a variety of digital channels.
• Maintain high quality database entries according to current policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in the planning and implementation of a consumer health information portal.

Requirements

• Fluent in both Spanish and English in a business setting.
• Experience with consumer-level health information in both languages.
• Ability to work in a database or content management system.
• At least one year of experience with evaluating or working with health information.
• Experience with simplified writing is a plus.
