Lab Support Technician II - Reference Lab - Remote

Overview

The Lab Support Technician II in the Reference Lab provides intermediate-level technical and operational support to ensure the accurate and timely processing, packaging, and shipment of laboratory specimens to outside reference laboratories.

In Short

• Provides technical support in a clinical laboratory environment.
• Processes and verifies laboratory specimens for testing.
• Enters orders into the EPIC system for outside institutions.
• Communicates with staff regarding specimen collection and results.
• Assists in training new laboratory technicians.
• Ensures compliance with safety and procedural standards.
• Handles various types of specimens including mail-in and timed urine specimens.
• May require working a fluid schedule based on staffing needs.
• Participates in quality assurance and problem resolution.
• Contributes to a collaborative healthcare environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience as a Lab Tech or Assistant in a Clinical Laboratory.
• 60 hours of completed higher education in health sciences preferred.
• Previous reference lab experience is a plus.
• DOT/IOTA Certification is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen processing.
• Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment screenings.
