Overview

The Instrument Technician I will be responsible for the decontamination, assembly, inspection, packaging, testing, and sterilization of medical instruments and sets, supporting the Operating Room staff with necessary supplies and equipment.

In Short

  • Responsible for decontamination and sterilization of instruments.
  • Assemble, inspect, and package medical instruments.
  • Conduct routine testing including biological tests for sterilizers.
  • Maintain accurate records of processed items.
  • Assist Operating Room staff with supply needs.
  • Transport loads to and from sterilization departments.
  • Communicate effectively under pressure.
  • Report directly to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Work in a clinical environment with varying shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: Certification as an Instrument Technician.
  • Experience as an Instrument Technician is preferred.
  • Knowledge of packing, assembling, and stocking items.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to the job.
  • Must understand the urgency of requests from OR staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA.
  • Pre-employment screening required.
