Overview

The Instrument Technician I will be responsible for decontamination, assembling, inspecting, packaging, testing, and sterilizing instruments and sets within the perioperative services at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

In Short

  • Responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of medical instruments.
  • Maintain records of loads and items processed.
  • Assist Operating Room staff with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Perform routine testing on sterilization equipment.
  • Conduct administrative duties including processing purchase requisitions.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on employee evaluations and compliance.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and maintain employee records.
  • Prepare various documents and presentations.
  • Participate in career training and educational opportunities.
  • Work in a collaborative health care environment focused on improving patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to perform physical activities including lifting and manipulating items.
  • Experience in medical services or related field is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with staff and vendors.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining records and compliance.
  • Capability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Understanding of sterilization procedures and equipment is a plus.
  • Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States.
