Senior Patent Counsel - Remote

Overview

Unified Patents is again growing its legal department, and seeks to add an experienced, registered patent attorney. Applicants should have at least 5 years of law firm or other relevant experience before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), in particular working on ex parte reexamination proceedings, post-grant petitions (IPR, PGR, and CBM), or other administrative drafting and litigation experience.

In Short

• Manage patent office proceedings internally
• Draft, file, and litigate patent office proceedings
• Handle calls with decision makers
• Draft motions and briefs
• Support senior attorneys with ongoing matters
• Support docketing, e-filing, deposit account, budgeting, and other IP functions
• Edit work product of colleagues and outside counsel
• Provide amicus curiae drafting and support
• Offer contract, licensing, and other legal support services
• Engage in various legal writing and support duties

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience
• Strong technical background
• Experience with video codecs, coding, cryptography, and wireless communications is a plus
• Patent examination and clerking experience is a plus
• Familiarity with PTAB practice issues is a plus
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Enjoy writing and editing legal documents
