Linux Systems Administrator - Remote

Overview

Our client in the fintech industry is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join their fully remote team. In this role, you will support a high-performance trading environment by managing Linux and Windows systems, monitoring infrastructure, and optimizing Kubernetes environments via Rancher. You’ll work with a tight-knit team empowered to own their work and propose innovative solutions. To be successful in this role, you must be resourceful, self-motivated, and confident in your ability to make sound technical decisions while taking ownership of critical infrastructure. Ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in system administration, enjoy solving complex problems, and are skilled in scripting and automation. In Short

• Administer Linux (Alma) and Windows systems ensuring stability, security, and performance
• Manage Kubernetes clusters using Rancher for container orchestration
• Automate routine tasks and infrastructure provisioning using Ansible, Bash, or PowerShell
• Support cloud operations primarily in AWS and monitor on-premise co-located servers
• Maintain system documentation, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures
• Monitor infrastructure health using Prometheus, Grafana, or CheckMK
• Participate in Friday evening and weekend maintenance windows (0-8 hours per month)
• Track tasks and incidents using Jira and Zendesk
• Communicate shift updates and ongoing tasks clearly
• Provide technical support and collaborate across teams to resolve system issues

Requirements

• 5+ years of Linux system administration experience required
• Windows Server environments and Active Directory experience required
• Proficiency with AWS or other cloud environments required
• Basic Kubernetes administration knowledge required
• Ansible automation experience required
• Scripting proficiency with Bash, PowerShell, or Python required
• Experience with system monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) required
