Overview

The Archaeology Field Technician position involves on-call temporary work focused on archaeological fieldwork throughout the Western United States, with a preference for candidates residing in specific states.

In Short

  • Conduct archaeological pedestrian surveys.
  • Collect archaeological data including GPS and photographs.
  • Perform subsurface testing and artifact identification.
  • Measure and record artifacts accurately.
  • Prepare high-quality field notes.
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • At least 6 months of archaeological field experience.
  • Experience in archaeological survey and excavation.
  • Ability to work in diverse and difficult terrains.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience with GPS units and navigation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
