Applied AI Engineer - LLM & NLP - Remote

Overview

As an Applied AI Engineer at Toku, you will focus on building, improving, and deploying real-world AI capabilities across speech-to-text, chatbots, and large language model–driven features used in production.

In Short

• Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and improve NLP, speech-to-text, and LLM-based models.
• Work with chatbots and language understanding features.
• Design and run model evaluations and benchmarking.
• Translate AI/ML research into production-ready solutions.
• Integrate models into existing backend services.
• Ensure models are production-ready and maintainable.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on AI capabilities.
• Communicate progress and technical decisions clearly.
• Contribute to model optimisation and iterative experimentation.
• Support investigation of AI-related production issues.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with LLMs, NLP, or speech technologies.
• Practical experience with Python-based AI development (e.g. PyTorch).
• Hands-on experience reading and applying AI/ML research.
• Strong foundation in AI/ML fundamentals.
• Experience deploying AI models in production systems.
• Ability to integrate models into backend services via Python APIs.
• Familiarity with RAG and vector-based retrieval systems.
• Working knowledge of AWS-based environments.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
