Staff Engineer, Backend (Python/Java) - Remote

Overview

As a Staff Engineer at Tide, you will be responsible for designing, creating, and running the rich product catalog of your area, with opportunities to make architectural decisions that shape the future of Tide’s platform.

In Short

• Define and own the target architecture for your domain.
• Work on early engineering phases to lay groundwork for your team.
• Collaborate with product teams to select technology partners.
• Lead engineers in your team, balancing design, coding, and coaching.
• Align vision and roadmap with other Staff Engineers.
• Work closely with product owners and other teams to translate requirements into solutions.
• Contribute to the Community of Practice and share best practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in building server-side applications.
• Knowledge of backend frameworks (e.g., Spring/Spring Boot).
• Experience with microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Ability to engineer scalable solutions in a cloud-native environment.
• Mindset for delivering secure and well-documented software.
• Willingness to own code and processes from development to production.
• Exposure to financial/payment services.
• Experience integrating with third-party providers.
• Familiarity with relational databases.
• Comfortable working in an agile environment.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Exposure to continuous integration and deployment.
