Backend Engineer - Python - Remote

Overview

Progyny Global is seeking a Backend Engineer to build high-quality backend systems that support fertility and family-forming journeys.

In Short

• Build and maintain backend APIs and services using Python (Django), GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Frontend teams to develop features end-to-end.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of backend systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions like data modeling and authentication.
• Write well-tested, production-grade code and participate in peer reviews.
• Work on DevOps topics using tools like GitHub Actions and Terraform.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend development experience in a product-focused environment.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with Django.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience building RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and CI/CD.
• Bonus: Exposure to QA practices or AI development tools, GraphQL.
