Overview

The Safety & Airworthiness Specialist will lead the Safety Management Systems for the Boeing UK Chinook Programme, ensuring effective safety risk management and promoting a positive safety culture.

In Short

  • Lead Safety Management Systems for the UK Chinook Programme.
  • Manage Safety Risk Management strategy and hazard identification.
  • Facilitate Hazard Identification working groups.
  • Oversee safety occurrence reports and investigations.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct Safety Investigations based on reports.
  • Deliver SMS training for compliance.
  • Travel within the UK and potentially overseas.
  • Maintain SMS documentation and audit trails.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across the programme.

Requirements

  • Formal Safety Management Systems training and experience.
  • Significant experience in aviation maintenance or engineering.
  • Training in Safety Risk Management and BowTie methodology.
  • Qualified Safety Investigator with extensive experience.
  • Understanding of Just Culture principles.
  • Experience managing safety reports using military or civil tools.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across functions.
  • Interpersonal skills balanced with diplomacy.
  • Experience as a Human Factors trainer is desirable.
