Assistant Controller, Director - Remote

Overview

Tala is seeking a highly capable Assistant Controller, Director to lead core accounting operations across our U.S. and international entities, overseeing global consolidation, U.S. financial reporting, technical accounting, and audit readiness.

In Short

• Lead monthly close and financial reporting for Tala’s U.S. parent entity.
• Oversee global consolidation of all international subsidiaries.
• Own technical accounting areas including stock-based compensation and software capitalization.
• Serve as the lead liaison for annual audits and lender portfolio audits.
• Support documentation and maintenance of internal control processes.
• Manage and coach a cross-border team of approximately 6 people.
• Collaborate with Treasury, Tax, Legal, Product, and Engineering teams.
• Drive automation and improve documentation with the Accounting Optimization Team.
• Act as the operational point of contact during U.S. business hours.
• Back up the VP Global Controller as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years in a leadership role with public accounting experience preferred.
• Proven experience in managing complex audits.
• Demonstrated ability to develop accounting policies.
• Proficiency in NetSuite; familiarity with Carta and other tools preferred.
• Experience managing distributed teams across multiple time zones.
• Deep technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
