Mortgage Underwriter III - Remote

Overview

Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Mortgage Underwriter III. The Mortgage Underwriter III renders a final decision (e.g., approval, disapproval, approval with conditions) for mortgage loan applications in a timely, accurate and compliant manner. This position reviews loan applications based on factors such as capacity, credit history, capital, and collateral in compliance with company policy, contracts, investor guidelines, lending programs and state and federal laws and regulations.

• Render a final underwriting decision for mortgage loan applications.
• Apply underwriting rules from multiple sources to accurately review loan applications.
• Review loan files for accuracy and compliance.
• Educate loan officers and processors about underwriting rules.
• Perform necessary computer-based functions for internal and external IT systems.
• Meet ongoing deadlines for underwriting and closing.
• Comply with company policies and industry regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Requirements

• Graduation from a 4-year college or university with related major, preferred.
• At least 10+ years of underwriting experience.
• FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) approved.
• Veterans Administration (VA) Lender Appraisal Processing Program (LAPP/SAR).
• Experience in at least two specialty areas (e.g., Portfolio Lending, Construction Lending).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
