DV - Hotline Specialist Part Time (Sat-Sun, 5pm-1am) - Remote

Overview

The Domestic Violence (DV) Hotline Specialist is an essential remote position covering the 24-hour domestic and sexual violence hotline for Fairfax County, through Shelter House. The Hotline Specialist will answer the crisis line and assess callers for shelter entry eligibility in addition to providing resources, information and safety planning, regardless of shelter entry.

In Short

• Part-time position covering weekend shifts (Sat-Sun, 5pm-1am).
• Conduct crisis screenings over the phone for shelter entry.
• Provide emotional support and crisis intervention.
• Offer community referrals and collaborate with agencies.
• Maintain caller privacy and document all calls.
• Utilize digital platforms for information tracking.
• Attend virtual supervision and training meetings.
• Communicate regularly with the Hotline Program Manager.
• Adhere to agency policies and core values.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to listen empathetically and assess danger.
• Experience in crisis intervention or related field.
• Knowledge of domestic violence and related issues.
• Strong communication skills.
• Reliable workspace with internet access.
• Ability to document calls accurately.
• Willingness to attend ongoing training.
