In Short

  • Verify and obtain eligibility/status of claims.
  • Update patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Research unpaid or denied claims.
  • Monitor claims for missing information and authorization.
  • Contact payers to secure payment of claims.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • 2+ years of medical collections/billing experience required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of billing guidelines and claim forms.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and health information systems.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of medical collections/billing experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and NCCI.
  • Familiarity with third-party billing guidelines.
  • Experience with billing claim forms (UB04/1500).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of health information systems.
  • Experience with Epic preferred.
  • Experience with coordination of benefits and patient calling preferred.
  • Experience with self-pay credits and refunds preferred.
