BESS Estimator - Remote

Overview

The Estimator - BESS prepares cost estimates for renewable energy and utility-owned battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role is responsible for creating accurate, cost-competitive, and timely preparation of forecasts for the Company’s Development and T&D construction businesses, to be budgeted or bid, incorporating knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, and industry principles.

• Prepare cost estimates for BESS projects.
• Collaborate with project estimators to create competitive bids.
• Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Utilize standardized tools for cost estimation.
• Conduct quantity take-offs for construction scopes.
• Assess local labor and commodity pricing impacts.
• Identify project risks and prepare proposal documents.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to junior estimators.
• Maintain current market data for accurate estimates.
• Work in a hybrid model with 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in estimating utility-size BESS systems.
• Familiarity with EPC and BOP estimate structures.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to travel domestically 5-15%.
• Experience with quantity take-offs and budget compilation.
• Knowledge of construction industry practices and procedures.
• Ability to recognize and recommend cost-effective designs.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
