Overview

The Infection Prevention Supervisor is accountable for the implementation and compliance with policies, practices, and processes of the infection prevention program at the facility, region, division, and system level. This role oversees infection prevention consultative services focused on providing the highest quality care at the lowest cost to patients and the organization.

In Short

  • Accountable for infection prevention program oversight at one or more facilities.
  • Develops goals for the program and carries out program plans.
  • Provides content for policies and procedures.
  • Reports to various stakeholders including CMO, CNO, and frontline caregivers.
  • Runs day-to-day operations and performs routine infection prevention functions.
  • Orients and trains new hires.
  • Identifies opportunities for staff mentorship and development.
  • Operationalizes emergency preparedness plans related to emerging pathogens.
  • May be required to take “On-Call” for IP related questions.
  • Serves as direct supervisor for infection preventionists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Microbiology, Nursing, or related laboratory science.
  • 4 years of experience as an Infection Preventionist or Epidemiologist.
  • 4 years of experience in Quality and Patient Safety in a healthcare setting.
  • 2 years of experience in Infection Prevention or Epidemiology.
