Investigator (Forensic Accounting) - Remote

Overview

Price Benowitz LLP is seeking a highly skilled Investigator with forensic accounting experience to support our Family Law Partner based in Rockville, MD. This fully remote role is ideal for a professional with expertise in financial investigations, asset tracing, and fraud detection, particularly in the context of divorce, alimony, child support, and asset division cases.

In Short

• Conduct forensic financial investigations related to marital assets, income, and financial disclosures.
• Analyze bank records, tax returns, investment accounts, business financials, and other financial documents.
• Work closely with attorneys to develop case strategies based on financial findings.
• Prepare detailed financial reports, exhibits, and visualizations for mediation and court proceedings.
• Assist in business valuation assessments and lifestyle analysis.
• Identify and investigate signs of undisclosed income and fraudulent transfers.
• Collaborate with expert witnesses and financial professionals.
• Support litigation efforts by preparing questions for depositions.
• Conduct background checks and financial profiling of opposing parties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Forensic Accounting, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Forensic Accountant (Cr.FA) preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in forensic accounting or financial investigations.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and forensic accounting software.
• Experience conducting lifestyle analyses and tracing assets.
• Ability to identify fraud and hidden assets through forensic methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Self-motivated and proactive in a remote setting.
