Overview

The Professional Coding Manager is responsible for managing, planning, and coordinating the daily operations of the enterprise coding service, ensuring compliance with coding policies and regulations while overseeing staff training and productivity.

In Short

  • Manage daily operations of enterprise coding service.
  • Ensure compliance with national and enterprise coding policies.
  • Oversee training of HIM coding staff on ICD-9 and ICD-10.
  • Focus on coding accuracy and accounts receivable performance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for coding.
  • Foster open communications between staff and leadership.
  • Develop and maintain coding policies and procedures.
  • Monitor staff productivity and quality of coding practices.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations.
  • Ensure optimal use of technology in coding operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D required.
  • Associate's degree or 2-3 years post-secondary education preferred.
  • Must hold a coding certification (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare coding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
