WordPress Software Development Intern - Remote

Overview

The Software Development Intern contributes to ONC’s mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by completing essential tasks in the Technology department at ONC. The intern will be responsible for building and maintaining the website, with most work being completed independently.

In Short

• Contribute to building and maintaining a website from scratch.
• Connect and maintain a database to the website.
• Implement new features according to design and functional requirements.
• Document the code base and structure of the overall product.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Communicate effectively with team leads and the Director of Technology.
• Work remotely, primarily over Zoom and Slack.
• Commit to the Spring semester internship.
• Gain experience that can be added to a portfolio.
• Flexible schedule with opportunities for professional networking.

Requirements

• Current student in Computer Science or related fields.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with WordPress and PHP.
• Able to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively.
• Google Workspace experience preferred.
• Submit a portfolio of previous work.
• Authorized to intern in the U.S.
