Fractional CFO / Head of Finance - Remote

Overview

The Fractional CFO will help build and operate Optiml’s financial operating system during a critical scale-up phase, combining strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational execution.

• Build and operate Optiml’s financial operating system: forecasting, reporting, and liquidity visibility.
• Deliver investor-grade financial reporting and board readiness while supporting fundraising and strategic decisions.
• Ensure clean integration between finance, commercial data, and multi-entity operations across Switzerland, Germany, the UK, and beyond.
• Own financial planning and forecasting processes, including budgeting and long-range financial models.
• Design and maintain a structured financial reporting framework for leadership visibility.
• Oversee external accounting providers for accurate bookkeeping and compliance.
• Maintain clear visibility into cash runway and capital allocation strategies.
• Support preparation of board materials and investor updates.
• Integrate financial systems to improve forecast accuracy and reporting consistency.
• Fluent in English; German a plus.

Requirements

• CPA or equivalent accounting qualification required.
• 7–10+ years of experience in finance roles, including startup environments.
• Comfortable operating as a player-coach, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
• Strong experience in financial modeling and forecasting.
• Experience overseeing outsourced accounting partners.
• Strong proficiency with Excel and financial reporting frameworks.
• Ability to operate in a hands-on fractional CFO capacity.
• Strong communication skills with founders and investors.
• Adept with tools like Google & Microsoft Office suite, Notion, Slack, Xero, Hubspot.
• Capabilities in AI workflows.
