Mechanical Design Engineer for Autonomous Systems - Remote

Overview

Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer specializing in Mechanical Design and Autonomous Systems Development to join our team. This role requires a balanced focus on mechanical design for government initiatives and the prototype development and accelerated fielding of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), robotics, Human Machine Integrated (HMI) systems, and other autonomous systems.

• Develop concept design alternatives for U.S. government problem statements.
• Design and support prototype development for sUAS and robotics.
• Prepare comprehensive design documentation with GD&T.
• Use 3D CAD software to create mechanical designs.
• Conduct performance analysis and structural optimization.
• Support grant applications and SBIR documentation.
• Participate in the design and deployment of autonomous systems.
• Conduct field testing and evaluation of systems.
• Develop fielding strategies for rapid deployment.
• Collaborate on proposal writing for grants.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Experience in prototype development for sUAS and robotics.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
• Experience with FEA tools for structural analysis.
• Familiarity with 3D printing technologies.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Experience with grant applications is desirable.
