Tax Manager – Telecommunications Taxes - Remote

Overview

Helium Mobile is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager with 5-7 years of experience in telecommunications taxes to join our team. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations specific to the telecommunications industry. This role requires a deep understanding of telecom tax laws, USF contributions, e911 fees, and sales & use tax to support accurate reporting and tax strategy implementation.

In Short

• Work with tax vendors (Avalara) to prepare and file federal, state, and local telecom tax returns.
• Conduct tax research and stay up to date on telecom tax regulations.
• Assist in tax audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities.
• Reconcile tax accounts and ensure accurate tax reporting in financial statements.
• Work closely with finance, accounting, and legal teams to develop efficient tax strategies.
• Monitor and validate tax calculations for customer invoices.
• Support the implementation of tax automation tools and software.
• Identify opportunities for tax savings and process improvements.
• Complete month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Ad-hoc accounting/tax projects as needed.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of experience in telecom tax compliance, reporting, and research.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Public accounting experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of telecom tax regulations.
• Experience with telecommunications tax engines and tax filing vendors.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and FASB codification.
• Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of NetSuite.
• Detail-oriented mindset with excellent analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• CPA preferred; Master of Taxation degree preferred.
