Overview

The Donor Eligibility Specialist I (DES I) is responsible for determining the eligibility of ocular tissue donors and ensuring timely release of donor charts, while supporting quality management and regulatory compliance.

In Short

  • Full-time position in Ocular Services.
  • Determines eligibility of ocular tissue donors.
  • Maintains compliance with medical record systems.
  • Requests and reviews donor medical records.
  • Participates in training related to donor eligibility.
  • Ensures compliance with FDA and EBAA standards.
  • Acts as liaison between departments.
  • Conducts investigations for reported adverse reactions.
  • Supports regulatory audits.
  • Maintains knowledge of ocular tissue processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in biological science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum four years of experience with Eye Bank or Tissue Bank quality systems.
  • Excellent working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills.
  • Certified Eye Banker or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and maintain compliance.
