Payroll Specialist - Remote

Overview

The Payroll Specialist at Sonoco will be responsible for processing payroll for the Company’s US and Canadian operations, ensuring timely and accurate payments while driving improvements in payroll processes.

In Short

• Process hourly and salaried payrolls for US and Canadian operations.
• Drive improvement projects in Workday processes.
• Conduct audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with year-end processing and tax forms.
• Research federal and state payroll regulations.
• Liaise between IT and payroll operations.
• Resolve payroll issues balancing employee needs and compliance.
• Oversee distribution of confidential payroll information.
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications effectively.
• Participate in various payroll-related projects and tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or HR.
• 3-5 years of payroll processing experience.
• Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills.
• Experience with Workday and payroll corrections.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to organize and structure activities effectively.
• Experience in a fast-paced public company environment.
• Familiarity with ADP and UKG is preferred.
• Preferred certifications: CPP.
