Part-Time Controller - Remote

Overview

The Controller will manage the organization’s financial operations, including invoicing, reporting, and general compliance with contract requirements, and serve as a strategic thought partner to the Executive Director.

In Short

• Part-Time position (20 hours per week).
• Home-based with the ability to work from the Columbia office when necessary.
• Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Manage all Accounts Receivable duties including billing and collections.
• Lead budget processes and prepare financial reports for the Board.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
• Coordinate annual audit processes.
• Approve payroll and manage organizational cash flow.
• Prepare and file necessary tax forms.
• Maintain financial systems to ensure data integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
• Experience with nonprofit financial procedures required.
• Seven years or more related experience required.
• CPA or CMA designation preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.
• Self-driven with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of benefits management and compliance.
• Proficient in accounting and reporting software.
