Mortgage Senior Underwriter - Remote

Overview

Responsible for underwriting mortgage loans, including government loans to determine acceptability with M&T Bank and secondary market standards set by the investor to ensure saleability and sound credit quality while adhering to the requirements of Federal registration under the SAFE Act.

• Underwrite conventional and government mortgage loans.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• Direct Endorsement (DE) or LAPP approval preferred.
• Full knowledge of credit risk and appraisals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of DU/LP valuations.
• Thorough knowledge of conforming and non-conforming guidelines.
• Ability to make sound saleable decisions.
• Knowledge of industry tools for loan saleability.
• Understanding of risk assessment processes.
