Better is looking for a Senior Mortgage Underwriter with strong government loan experience to join our expanding team. This role involves assessing borrower financials and credit information alongside property valuations to guide lending decisions, while collaborating closely with the production team for timely closings.

• Underwrite and decision various types of residential mortgage loans.
• Verify and analyze financial information and documentation.
• Review appraisal reports for discrepancies.
• Conduct thorough analysis of applicant's financial data.
• Calculate qualifying ratios and assess creditworthiness.

• 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience required.
• Active FHA DE and VA SAR designations needed.

• Excellent attention to detail is essential.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience underwriting FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and Non-Conforming mortgages.
• Active FHA DE and VA SAR designations required.
• Expert knowledge of Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector/Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA).
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
• Must manage a pipeline of 200+ loans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to carry out requisite loan calculations (DTI, LTV, etc.).
• HELOC experience is a plus.
• Proven ability to thrive in a remote setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and efficiency under pressure.
