Mortgage Customer Outreach Specialist I - Remote

Overview

This position is responsible for collecting on delinquent mortgage loans by calling borrowers who are in early stages of default (60 or less days delinquent).

In Short

• Initiate contact with consumers in early stages of mortgage loan default.
• Collect past due payments while maintaining compliance with laws and regulations.
• Assess consumer’s ability to repay delinquency and arrange repayment plans.
• Handle inbound calls regarding mortgage loan products.
• Communicate state-specific call compliance requirements.
• Identify and investigate suspect situations (e.g., fraud).
• Resolve problematic account situations and refer complex issues to supervisors.
• Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls.
• Maintain internal control standards and implement audit points.
• Promote an inclusive environment reflecting the M&T Bank brand.

Requirements

• 2 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience.
• Effective and professional communication skills over the phone.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Collections experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of M&T systems is a plus.
