Overview

Lush North America is hiring a Compliance Specialist to join our People and Culture team on a 14-month contract basis.

As the Compliance Specialist, you'll play an essential role in developing, communicating and executing company policies and guidance that uphold our company values while remaining compliant. In this role, you’ll lead compliance efforts across our US operations, with a particular focus on retail. You’ll be responsible for identifying gaps, interpreting evolving employment legislation, creating and updating policies, and driving implementation through collaboration and training.

While the primary focus is on US compliance, there may be opportunities to support Canadian initiatives based on your experience. This opportunity is ideal for someone with hands-on HR compliance experience who is proactive, solutions-focused, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. In this role, you'll play a large part in building scalable programs that ensure compliance while staying true to Lush’s values.

In Short

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure Lush remains compliant with all employment regulations.
  • Partner with People Experience to monitor, recommend and promptly resolve compliance concerns.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure all applicable labor law posters are updated.
  • Monitor meal and break adherence and all compliance required workplace training.
  • Proactively address changes in employment laws that might affect the organization’s policies.
  • Collaborate on compliance-related training and guidance required by labor requirements.
  • Responsible for managing internal and external audit requests.
  • Create clear, compliant employment guidelines and policies.
  • Conduct annual reviews of existing guidelines and policies.
  • Support and partner with Legal and People Experience when there are Employee Relations escalations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in HR compliance.
  • 5+ years experience in employee relations.
  • Experience in both Canada and the US, especially California.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Google suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within North America.
