Kickstarter is seeking a meticulous and forward-thinking Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to join our Finance team. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, compliant, and scalable revenue accounting processes as we continue to support creators and backers worldwide. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you’ll partner with cross-functional teams—including Product, Legal, and Engineering—to align new products, payment flows, and business models with accounting standards. The ideal candidate combines strong ASC 606 expertise with a passion for automation and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.

In Short

  • Lead and influence the preparation and review of revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules during month-end and quarter-end close cycles.
  • Develop and optimize scalable, automated accounting processes to support evolving revenue streams while driving operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Research, document, and implement revenue recognition policies, ensuring compliance with ASC 606.
  • Provide technical guidance on new business models and product launches.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive the design, implementation, and testing of new revenue recognition systems.
  • Engage and align multiple business partners in the development of standard operating procedures.
  • Lead strategic revenue accounting projects and other process improvements.
  • Assist in ad-hoc analyses and projects for the revenue, finance, accounting, and tax teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years progressive accounting experience, combining public accounting fundamentals with industry exposure.
  • B.A. or B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related discipline.
  • Expert experience and understanding of payment processor workflows.
  • Hands-on reconciliation experience with payment platforms or fintech solutions.
  • Breadth of experience in US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance.
  • Experience in researching and documenting technical accounting matters under ASC 606.
  • Expert Excel knowledge; experience with automation tools is a major advantage.
  • Experience working with databases and SQL across standard commercial databases.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience analyzing high volume, multi-currency transactions.
  • Ability to work meticulously and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Ability to design, lead and implement internal controls and best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
