Overview

The Medical Assistant I supports the examination and treatment of patients in Medical Centers, working under the guidance of a physician or nurse. This entry-level medical assisting role offers opportunities for on-the-job training and advancement to higher-level positions upon certification.

In Short

  • Interview patients, record vital signs, and update patient charts.
  • Assist in managing daily patient flow as needed.
  • Provide direct patient care and perform laboratory tests under supervision.
  • Administer vaccines and medications under physician supervision.
  • Maintain a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment.
  • Comply with Infection Control and OSHA Regulations.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Collaborate effectively with personnel from other departments.
  • Be willing to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a medical assistant training program required.
  • Minimum of two years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Active Medical Assistant National Certification preferred.
  • BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Effective communication skills with patients and staff.
  • Proficiency in EPIC, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
