Java Engineer with DevOps Skills - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a skilled Java Engineer to join our distributed team working on several long-term projects across the German insurance and fintech sectors. You will collaborate with a world-class team to deliver robust and scalable solutions using Spring Boot, Terraform, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, and Azure. This is a remote-first opportunity open to candidates located within Europe.

In Short

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
• Implement cloud-native infrastructure using Terraform and Kubernetes
• Contribute to the deployment and scaling of services across multiple cloud providers
• Work closely with product owners, architects, and QA engineers across multiple German-speaking client projects
• Ensure security, scalability, and performance in all stages of the software lifecycle
• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code
• Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and code reviews
• Maintain a strong focus on reliability and observability across services

Requirements

• Proven experience in Java development (5+ years preferred)
• Deep knowledge of Spring Boot and microservice architectures
• Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code principles
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
• Experience with cloud platforms: GCP, AWS, Azure
• German: C1 or higher (spoken and written) – mandatory
• English: B2 or higher – for internal communication
• Based in Europe (for time zone alignment and compliance)
