Telephone Operator - Remote

Overview

The Telephone Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating the switchboard to ensure efficient communication within the hospital, including answering calls, directing inquiries, and responding to emergencies.

• Monitors and operates the switchboard for hospital communications.
• Answers and directs incoming calls and overhead paging inquiries.
• Triages and prioritizes calls based on urgency.
• Responds immediately to alarms and medical emergencies.
• Maintains and cleans switchboard equipment.
• Logs emergency response information as appropriate.
• May reprogram the fire alarm system after activation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Excellent telephone and interpersonal communication skills required.
• Preferred experience as a Telephone Operator, Receptionist, or Dispatcher.

Requirements

• Minimum excellent telephone skills.
• Interpersonal communication skills required.
• Training as a Telephone Operator or similar preferred.
• Experience with PC-based telephone operator console preferred.
