Overview

The Patient Access Coordinator I is responsible for scheduling, pre-registration, financial clearance, and ensuring a positive patient experience while collecting necessary information for billing and insurance verification.

In Short

  • Completes scheduling and pre-registration functions.
  • Validates patient demographic data and verifies medical benefits.
  • Conducts insurance verification and identifies authorization requirements.
  • Calculates patient financial responsibilities and collects payments.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participates in mandatory training and education sessions.
  • Focuses on productivity standards and performance enhancement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 months related experience or training preferred.
  • Experience in a medical or financial services setting is a plus.
  • Proficient in using PC and software applications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verifications.
  • Call/service center experience preferred.
