Overview

The AI & Intellectual Property Counsel will manage and grow the global intellectual property portfolio while guiding the company through AI regulation and compliance.

In Short

• Assess and manage HighLevel’s current IP portfolio.
• Conduct IP audits and develop strategies for new filings.
• Advise on patentability and IP protection strategies.
• Draft and review trademark filings and manage renewals.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to capture patentable features.
• Educate on IP hygiene best practices.
• Monitor third-party IP risks and infringement issues.
• Advise on responsible AI development practices.
• Monitor evolving AI legal frameworks.
• Create internal guidance around AI use.

Requirements

• J.D. and active license to practice law in the U.S.; LL.M. or specialization in IP law preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in intellectual property law.
• Strong background in AI, software patents, and trademarks.
• Understanding of open source licensing frameworks.
• Experience with AI/ML technologies and legal considerations.
• Strong contract drafting and review skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proactive mindset with strong analytical abilities.
• Ability to simplify complex legal concepts.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, global SaaS company.
