Overview

As a Technical Designer – Game Systems, you will develop and integrate intricate technical and systemic design components into the game. Acting as a technical resource for the Game Design team, you will provide help, support, and advice to your peers as needed, and serve as a bridge between the Game Design, Level Design and Engineering teams. You may also be called upon to become the project's technical expert on a specific aspect of the game.

In Short

  • Work alongside Game Systems Technical Directors, Programmers, and professionals from various disciplines to develop and execute the technical components of a game feature.
  • Serve as a technical expert on a specific subject, manage tools and documentation, offer technical support, and establish and advocate for best practices.
  • Prototype gameplay features and perform production tasks within the game and game design team.
  • Design and implement more complex and technically challenging elements in the design of the game.
  • Regularly offer feedback to the team, including recommendations for enhancing tools and methods.
  • Assist in testing new features and tools prior to their release.
  • Assist with data optimization and validation, keeping budget limitations in mind and ensuring adherence to technical standards.
  • Participate in the troubleshooting and fixing of data errors and bugs throughout production.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in game design/development
  • A university or college degree in computer science, game design/development, or equivalent game development experience
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 or similar engines.
  • Good Communication skills. Able to understand and conveying technical concepts, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Flexibility along with a solid foundation in analysis and problem-solving.
