Overview

The Claim Specialist for Primary and Excess Liability Claims in the Hartford Global Specialty (HGS) Liability Major Case Unit is responsible for handling a caseload of complex bodily injury and non-bodily injury claims, often involving litigation.

In Short

  • Handle complex bodily injury and non-bodily injury claims.
  • Conduct investigations and analyze information.
  • Make coverage determinations and communicate positions.
  • Set and monitor expense and indemnity reserves.
  • Manage litigation and defense counsel.
  • Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for senior leadership.
  • Support field offices with coverage and liability analysis.
  • Evaluate claim trends with business partners.
  • Provide excellent customer service to agents and policyholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; law degree a plus.
  • Minimum of five years handling complex litigated claims.
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and technical claim handling skills.
  • Ability to influence and persuade others.
