Sr Software Engineer, Product Engineering - Remote

Overview

We’re hiring experienced engineers to join our teams that work on customer-facing products, developing features and iterating across our platform. As a Gusto Software Engineer, you’ll ship products and important functionality by leading initial feature specs, building backend APIs, writing frontend code, and contributing to ongoing improvements for deployed features.

In Short

• Build, test, and deliver Gusto’s product suite that spans across Payroll, Benefits, HR, Time, Tax Credits, and more
• Collaborate with engineers to help solve some of the hardest technical problems in complex domains at a large scale
• Work on one of the largest Ruby/Rails and JavaScript/React applications
• Collaborate with Product Management and Design teams to understand customer pain points and launch solutions
• Build a product that customers genuinely love

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Experience in Ruby on Rails
• Experience shipping products to end users and leading projects end-to-end
• Experience writing, testing, and debugging code for reliable production systems
• Demonstrated data modeling skills
• Passion for creating memorable customer experiences
• Interest in complex product development problems
• Appreciation for a collaborative, test-driven environment
• Able to build well-structured, maintainable, and documented code
• Nice to haves: Experience with React, GraphQL, Typescript, and payment technologies
