Senior Commercial Design Engineer - Remote

Overview

The Senior Commercial Design Engineer is a senior individual contributor role within GRID Alternatives’ commercial design team, responsible for delivering high-quality, code-compliant designs for multifamily and light commercial solar projects.

In Short

• Design solar systems ranging from 50 kW to 500 kW.
• Collaborate with project managers and construction teams.
• Produce complete design packages for utility and AHJ submittals.
• Support project costing and estimating.
• Mentor junior designers.
• Perform quality assurance reviews of designs.
• Communicate design intent to internal and external partners.
• Contribute to design standards and processes.
• Coordinate with external engineering vendors.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in solar design.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Excel.
• Experience with tools like HelioScope and PVsyst.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
