Overview

The Vice President, Finance & Accounting (Controller) provides strategic leadership and hands-on operational oversight for the Council’s finance and accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all accounting operations.

• Provides leadership and support to the Finance and Accounting team.
• Oversees monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepares financial statements and reports.
• Ensures compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
• Leads annual audits and Form 990 filings.
• Manages grant accounting and reporting requirements.
• Develops annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Implements process improvements in accounting operations.
• Collaborates with cross-functional departments.
• Maintains effective working relationships across departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
• Five or more years of senior-level accounting or finance experience.
• Three years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting and grant management.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft 365.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Must reside within Washington State.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license required.
