Remote Underwriter

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Remote Underwriter to evaluate risk and make sound decisions on loan, insurance, or financial applications in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.

In Short

• Review and analyze loan, mortgage, insurance, or credit applications and supporting documentation.
• Assess risk based on applicant information, financial status, credit reports, property evaluations, and policy guidelines.
• Make approval or denial decisions or recommend actions within assigned authority levels.
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with internal policies, industry standards, and relevant regulations.
• Communicate clearly with agents, brokers, loan officers, or clients to request additional information or explain decisions.
• Maintain accurate and thorough records of underwriting decisions and justifications.
• Stay current with industry trends, underwriting best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with team members, quality control, and management to ensure consistency and performance goals.

Requirements

• Proven experience (2+ years) as an Underwriter in mortgage, insurance, financial services, or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems and productivity tools (e.g., DU, LP, Encompass, or policy underwriting platforms).
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
