Overview

The Manager of Capacity Development at the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB) is responsible for supporting First Nations clients in financial management system certification and providing ongoing support to ensure compliance with standards.

In Short

  • Develop relationships with First Nation clients to promote financial management practices.
  • Support clients in achieving financial management system certification.
  • Assist with policy development and implementation.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions.
  • Provide guidance on First Nations Fiscal Management Act and standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders for capacity development delivery.
  • Provide post-certification support to clients.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.
  • Willing to travel to remote locations.
  • Flexible work hours and remote working opportunities.

Requirements

  • A Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred.
  • Five years of experience in financial management and auditing.
  • Knowledge of First Nations governance and policies.
  • Strong communication skills in English; French is an asset.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Willingness to travel and work outside of regular hours.
  • Ability to engage clients and build their capacity.
  • Equivalent education or experience may be considered.
