Overview

This position involves researching student mental health policies across Canadian high schools to inform a policy report and toolkit aimed at improving mental health supports.

In Short

  • Conduct comparative research on provincial education policies regarding student mental health.
  • Review existing frameworks and models related to school-based mental health.
  • Document disparities in access to mental health resources.
  • Develop a typology of common school-based mental health issues.
  • Produce a report outlining policy gaps and recommendations.
  • Create supplemental resources for stakeholders.
  • Coordinate focus groups with students and educators.
  • Work remotely with flexible scheduling.
  • Contract duration is 8 weeks starting June 2, 2025.
  • Pay is $17.20 per hour.

Requirements

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years old.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number.
  • Post-secondary degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in policy or qualitative research is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting youth.
  • Excellent critical thinking and synthesis skills.
  • Proficient in report preparation and communication.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
