Senior Medical Editor - Remote

Overview

The Senior Medical Editor is responsible for a range of editorial services, including medical editing, copyediting, proofreading, and fact checking of digital and print pharmaceutical advertising materials, internal and external presentations, and corporate communications.

In Short

• Edit for language clarity and consistency, brand and messaging accuracy, correct balance, appropriate tone, overall cohesiveness, flow, organization, style, grammar, spelling, typographical errors and formatting.
• Fact check materials to ensure comprehensive and accurate support for claims.
• Participate in development phase to initiate consistency in content and layout.
• Participate in the content review process throughout all stages of a job.
• Follow up with Creative, Copywriters and Account on content revisions as needed.
• Interface with Creative, Account, Project Management and other teammates to assist in project prioritization.
• Resolve questions on project details with Account and/or Project Management independently.
• Represent department at internal kickoff and status meetings.
• Ensure all pieces are compliant with each client’s unique medical/regulatory/legal requirements.
• Develop and maintain style guides for clients and brands.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education plus professional experience) required.
• 5+ years of editing experience in the healthcare and/or pharmaceutical industry required.
• Thorough knowledge of AMA (10th edition) style and familiarity with AP style.
• Ability to understand medical/scientific terminology.
• Extremely detail oriented, thorough and accurate.
• Proven experience managing rapidly shifting priorities and deadlines in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to take ownership, be accountable and work independently.
• Digitally savvy with excellent verbal, written, organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work and edit within Microsoft Office suite of products as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional.
