Overview

The role of a Medical Editor is to ensure the highest degree of editorial quality, scientific accuracy and consistency in all project deliverables, provide Editorial assistance across departments where required, and support Product Quality & Compliance in driving excellence across the business.

In Short

  • Complete all editorial tasks to an excellent standard.
  • Ensure linguistic accuracy, consistency, and clarity following project briefs.
  • Cross-check work across different outputs and formats.
  • Review copy for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and overall sense.
  • Verify scientific claims are substantiated within manuscripts.
  • Work with account teams to guarantee a wider understanding of the therapy/industry area.
  • Provide healthcare compliance support to team members.
  • Communicate with team members to manage workload and timelines.
  • Monitor your own capacity and assist in managing excess workload.
  • Understand and use platforms and internal systems.

Requirements

  • Experience editing in the medical communications, pharmaceutical or healthcare sector (minimum 1 year).
  • Proficiency in multiple software including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Excellent written English, including knowledge of UK and US nuances.
  • Ability to perform editorial tasks such as copy edits, proof reviews, and quality checking.
  • Experience working across several accounts/projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of UK pharmaceutical regulations and working within a communications agency would be advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in life science, English, journalism or other relevant subject is a bonus.
